Daniel Joseph lamps are supplied in bare finished materials, just like the orignals. Depending on the aged weathered look you desire you may do the following, if you want to keep the "bright" as supplied look you can either spray/apply wax to seal the finish, or let us know and we can apply a coat of satin clear lacquer. Alternatively if you want the lamps to have a "real" antique look, you can let them tarnish/age and then seal in the look you want with a coat of spray on wax, this is the way they were intended to be treated, but now you have a choice. Note, the shades and "gold pans" are pre finished with black and or clear protective coatings. "LIKE GOOD WINE, THESE LAMPS WILL IMPROVE WITH AGE".
